A leading cement company in Nigeria says it has suffered losses of $230m
(£150m) to attacks by militant Islamist group Boko Haram on its plant
in north-eastern Gombe.
Despite the attack, Ashaka Cement was determined to ensure it was “one
of the only surviving institutions in the entire north-eastern Nigeria”,
its chairman Suleiman Yahaya said after a meeting with the Emir of
Gombe at the weekend.
