Anna Wintour just shared some major outfit inspo — which she admittedly stole from Meghan Markle!
During a sit down conversation with Tina Brown at Brown’s “Women in the World” Summit on Friday, the Vogue editor-in-chief said it might be time to switch up her signature look (despite the fact that she walked on stage wearing her standard tea-length dress, bob and oversize black sunnies).
When Brown asked her former Condé Nast colleague how she discovered her trademark look, Wintour’s response was surprisingly relatable — especially coming from the most powerful person in all of fashion!
“I think that’s an entirely personal decision … It’s probably an easier decision to wear the same thing every day and not have to be concerned,” Wintour said. “Maybe it’s a little bit boring and time to change.”

Much to the delight of “Women in the World” audience members who chuckled at the answer, Wintour credited none other than Meghan Markle for inspiring her to step out of her fashion comfort zone.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about suits recently so … thank you to the Duchess of Sussex!” Wintour said.
Markle’s pantsuits are definitely one of her go-to looks. But in 2018, PEOPLE reported that Queen Elizabeth II does not approve, and instead, prefers women in the royal family to wear dresses or skirts.
Markle, “has found certain rules in the royal household difficult to understand, like the fact that the Queen prefers women in dresses or skirts rather than trouser suits, and is often asking Harry why things have to be done in a certain way,” a source previously told PEOPLE.
Regardless, Markle definitely has found a fan in the Vogue editor-in-chief.
“When she went on that trip to Australia and New Zealand, she was very respectful in choosing a lot of unknown Australian designers to wear, which was great,” Wintour said. “But I think, more importantly, she’s really bringing modernity to the royal family in a way that is inspiring.”
And this isn’t the first time Wintour has publicly complimented the royal mom-to-be’s style. In a January video interview with Vogue, the magazine mogul gushed over Markle’s Givenchy wedding dress, which featured an open bateau neckline and sculpted waist.
“I think she’s amazing,” Wintour said, adding that Markle “looked fantastic” during her May wedding to Prince Harry.
