No fewer than five Nigerian soldiers have been killed and many others declared missing after members of the terrorist group, Boko Haram, overran a military base manned bymen of the Nigerian Army 254 Task Force Battalion under the 25 Task Force Brigade in Borno State. The insurgents entered the base in a convoy of 15 gun trucks, officials said. They left with military trucks, binoculars, grenades, assault rifles and ammunition. According to a military source who confirmed the attack to Premiumtimes, at least eight soldiers were gravely wounded and heavy military hardware were carted away during the attack that occured last Friday April 26th. The source disclosed that the soldiers had initially put up a stiff resistance but retreated and fled into the bush due to faulty weapons and combat trucks. All the officers killed or wounded in action were evacuated to a military medical facility in Maiduguri on April 27.
