The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has advised motorists, tricycle operators and other road users against reckless driving, over speeding, as well as to always be vigilant especially when driving through the railway crossings to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.The General Manager Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu disclosed this following the unfortunate incident involving a tricycle rider that suddenly rammed into a moving train, while trying to cross the railway crossing around Shina Peters Road, Iju-Ishaga in Ifako Ijaye Local Council Development Area of the State.According to the General Manager, the Agency received the distress call on Tuesday, 30th of April 2019 at about 6:52 am. This prompted the immediate activation of the Agency's Response Team and other stakeholders to the scene of the incident accordingly. "On arrival at the scene of incident, it was gathered that a tricycle with five people on board was involved in the unfortunate incident".He further stated that preliminary investigation gathered at the scene of incident revealed that a tricycle with five people on board had a collision with a moving train resulting to the death of four persons (three adult males and one adult female), while one adult male escape unhurt.The Agency's Response Team and other stakeholders, which includes Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, (LNSC) Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) were responders at the incident scene.The dead bodies were recovered and handed over to State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) to be moved to the mortuary.Tiamiyu noted that the incident, could have been avoided if road traffic rules were strictly adhered to by the tricycle operator.
