Governor Ihedioha denies ordering the demolition of monuments built by Okorocha

Imo state governor, Emeka Ihedioha, has denied reports he ordered the demolition of some monuments built by his predecessor, Rochas Okorocha. Earlier today, a team of state government officials in company of some firece looking soldiers, began the demolition of the Akachi center, a tourist site built by Rochas Okorocha  and was commissioned by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, last week. Many people believed the demolition was on the order of the new state governor. The governor has since denied this claim. Read his statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Osuji Steve, below...GOVERNMENT OF IMO STATEPRESS RELEASEImo State government has no hand in the demolition of Akachi statueContrary to reports emanating from Owerri, the Government of Imo State has no hand in the pulling down of the gargantuan Akachi statue near Aba Road, Owerri. pic.twitter.com/ohPFgdNjrd— Emeka Ihedioha (@EmekaIhedioha) May 30, 2019In the same vein, government seizes this opportunity to warn Imo people to desist from unruly behavior and remain law abiding as anyone caught breaking the law would be prosecuted. The security agencies have been put on alert to maintain law and order across the state.— Emeka Ihedioha (@EmekaIhedioha) May 30, 2019At about noon on Thursday, a mammoth crowd had besieged the Akachi statue hacking at it and trying to pull it down, apparently acting in pent up anger.— Emeka Ihedioha (@EmekaIhedioha) May 30, 2019Another version suggests that the contractors who have been working rather endlessly around the statue for some time but who may have not been paid, may be responsible for the breaching of the giant statue.— Emeka Ihedioha (@EmekaIhedioha) May 30, 2019Does it stand to reason that a government that is barely 24 hours old, with no handover notes whatsoever and without an office to work from yet would concern itself with an ordinary statue?— Emeka Ihedioha (@EmekaIhedioha) May 30, 2019Does it stand to reason that a government that is barely 24 hours old, with no handover notes whatsoever and without an office to work from yet would concern itself with an ordinary statue?— Emeka Ihedioha (@EmekaIhedioha) May 30, 2019  The post Governor Ihedioha denies ordering the demolition of monuments built by Okorocha appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
