"Why didn't you name his tribe" Nigerians Criticize Abike Dabiri after she announced that a "Nigerian" has been elected the Mayor of London Borough

Nigerians have criticized Mrs. Abike Dabiri Erewa for failing to mention the tribe Ernest Ezeajughi is from after he made history by winning the election to become the first Black Mayor of the London Borough of Brent, United Kingdom. Ezeajughi, a native of Anambra state, was elected Mayor on April 16, 2019 by the College of Councillors on Brent, London. He was sworn in on May 1, 2019.  Sharing the news to Twitter, Ms. Dabiri wrote: "Nigerian elected Mayor in London. Proudly Nigerian."  But Nigerians called her out for addressing him as a Nigerian and failing to mention the tribe he's from now that he's done something good. They reminded her that when four Igbo men were arrested for robbery in Dubai, she was quick to call out their tribe and drop their names, thereby stereotyping the entire tribe.See Twitter reactions below. The post "Why didn't you name his tribe" Nigerians Criticize Abike Dabiri after she announced that a "Nigerian" has been elected the Mayor of London Borough appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
